Framed prints

How buyers choose a moulding and border, and how framing is priced.

A framed print is not one product. The buyer picks a moulding and a border, sees the piece drawn inside that frame, and the price changes to match.

What the buyer sees

On a piece with framed sizes, the Framed tab shows the frames on offer as corner samples. Clicking one wraps it around the artwork. Choosing a border adds a mat, and the frame grows outward the way a real one does. Every size price updates as they choose.

How it is priced

The way a framer prices it: moulding is sold by the foot, and the frame is cut to the print plus the border on all four sides, with an allowance of eight times the moulding face width for the mitred corners. So a wider border costs more, and a wide moulding costs more than a narrow one at the same size.

The frame price is added to the print price and shown as one figure. The order records which moulding and which border, because two framed prints of the same size can be entirely different products.

Which frames are available

Frames are a catalogue kept by ArtGyver. We hold the moulding, cut it, join it, mount and glaze the print and ship the finished piece — you never handle a frame. If there is a moulding you would like offered, tell us.
