Drafting a description

Getting a first draft of an artwork description, then making it yours.

When you add or edit a piece, under the description box there is Generate AI Description. Tick it and a draft is written from the title and tags you have entered, and dropped into the box for you to edit.

Fill the title and tags in first

The draft is written from them, so an untitled piece with no tags produces nothing useful. Title and tags first, then tick the box.

Treat it as a first draft

What comes back is plausible and slightly generic, because it is working from a title and some tags — it does not know the morning you took the photograph, or why you kept this frame and not the one before it. Keep the sentence that is right and replace the rest.

Descriptions matter twice over: they are what a visitor reads before deciding to buy, and they are what a search engine has to go on. A description in your own voice does both jobs better than a tidy one in nobody's.
